pura d'or blue shampooAs someone who strives to live a purely organic lifestyle, I am always excited to discover new health and beauty products. Recently I had the opportunity to try the Blue shampoo and Blue conditioner from Pura D’or, which features 100% cold pressed argan oil. The Pura D’or line of products is certified organic with sustainably produced ingredients.

I had never heard of argan oil before so I had to do some reading about it. This is edible oil from the argan tree, which grows in Morocco. The oil contains vitamins and fatty acids that have important health and beauty benefits. Not only can it be eaten but it is also useful as a moisturizer and for hair care. Pura D’or Blue Shampoo targets the leading causes of hair loss, for example, and helps strengthen hair with 12 DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) blockers.

Hair loss isn’t currently a problem for us though we are in our late thirties. Who can’t use a bit of strengthening? I’ve also been worried about losing some of the extra hair that I acquired during pregnancy. I’ve gotten used to the extra thickness. I started using the Blue shampoo a few weeks ago and haven’t noticed any hair falling out as I was told it probably would post-partum. My hair also looks shinier and feels softer since starting to use the products. The lavender vanilla scented Blue conditioner smells heavenly and does the job without leaving my hair heavy. I love that both of these products are made without sodium lauryl sulfate, DEA, parabens, gluten, artificial colors, artificial fragrances or harsh preservatives. Pura D’or also makes products to support healthy skin and nails and they are giving away a one ounce bottle of Argan Oil for free with every purchase.

pura d'or blue conditionerAside from being organic, what is most attractive to me about the Pura D’or line of products is all the wonderful ingredients they use. Aloe Vera, Calendula, Grapefruit, He Shou Wu and Rhodiola are just some of these. The company is offering a bottle of either the Blue shampoo or Blue conditioner to one lucky reader of this website. I highly recommend a trial of these unique products.

To WIN either a Blue shampoo or Blue conditioner from Pura D’or, simply leave a comment below telling me why you would like to try their pure argan oil products. A winner will be chosen by random draw on Monday, February 16, 2015 and contacted that day. This giveaway is open to residents of the United States and Canada only and closes at 11:59 pm Central Standard Time on February 15th.  Good luck!

Disclosure: Pura D’or sent me trial products to sample in order to write this review and they are providing the free bottle of shampoo and conditioner to the winner of this giveaway.

It would be nice to try this product, since I’ve tried (literally) just about everything else. Ironically I’ve been reading a book about Chinese medicine and just finished the chapter last night on herbs, oils and essential oils for skin/hair care – the Fo-ti in this product is usually quite effective.

Do you know if this product has phethalites? I also have sinus problems and read that no phethalites in the shampoo or any beauty product might help.
    Thanks

I am interesting in trying their shampoo because I do have thinning hair, due to a thyroid issue and my 13 yr old daughter also had some hair falling out due to a salon treatment this past summer-she’s pretty bummed about it and while it is growing back every so slowly, I want to make sure she uses something that is all natural, that will keep her hair healthy and strong. This sounds like a great product, and even if I don’t win, I am going to check it out!

The main two reasons I would love to try this product are the ingredients (or lack thereof!) and the fact that I, and definitely my husband, have noticed less hair on our heads as we are aging.

I would like to try it in order to compare a more commercial brand of Argan oil that I already have and see the differences. I’m really wanting the organic one to be better!!!

What to buy now? I Have lost some hair over the last year or so, mainly due to stress. Health is fine, after going to the Dr. to find out why…but still losing it. My longer hair mid-back, lots of it; almost the same length as my Twin who died a few yrs back… So, now I have even more stress, more DIstress, Why? I had been using (up until last week) NIOXIN…Worse and Frightening with Nioxin. I 100% attribute the extreme, rapid loss over the last few months of using it. I am in complete shock, as are my husband and son how noticeable this has become. Hair everywhere, hair missing (bald spots) I kept with the program, using only Nioxin Products..nothing else, no color/highlights, spray, etc. They kept telling me to stick with after I contacted about the loss…I did….Oh Help me, I did Here I am in my 40’s and going bald, due to a Shampoo/Product line that was to HELP initially “Minor” the situation. They sure helped themselves to my wallet : ) It was my choice, but reading the reviews; I fell for it. Looks as though they have changed the formula from years ago, and added less than desirable ingredients. I am now searching for hair products that are natural to compliment my new vitamins – Biotin, and Evening Primrose oil. I almost bought AVEDA, but saw this, and all week have been tempted to pull the trigger…. However it works out; I hope it helps the winner, and I will continue watching reviews.

Nioxin was also a disaster for my hair, very drying, hair felt like straw and shed much more. I’ve read that it’s best if using Nioxin to dilute it if you choose to use the product (about half strength). I didn’t bother but for some ladies this might get you some progress with it.

Gosh, I would love to WIN either a Blue shampoo or Blue conditioner from Pura D’or. I have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, Chronic Fatigue Immunodeficiency Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, 2 copies of the c677t MTHFR Gene Mutation & so many more problems that I’m embarrased to say. I used to have beautiful thick gray hair and vain is probably the word I should use for how I loved it. I always recieved the nicest compliments on it. I’ve now lost half of it, having it come out by the handsful as I looked at my brush in horror. My part has widened and my scalp gleams out at me when I look at the back of my head. My husband kindly helps me cover the spot when I go out in public. I almost resorted to using a gray magic marker to narrow my part one time! I no longer tell my doctor or mention it to anyone because it hurts my feelings when they tell me how lucky I am because I still have plenty of hair. I do still have hair; it’s just thin and long instead of the wildly thick tresses I use to have tumbling over my shoulders, reaching to my waist. I’ve finally seen a bit of reprieve since starting biotin two months ago. I have new little hairs emerging in my widened part. I’m now looking for a hair care regime that will help with the shine I’ve lost and the Blue shampoo or Blue conditioner from Pura D’or might be just the ticket. Thank you for letting me have a chance to give it a whirl.

    Hi there,

I am 35 and have been losing my hair for many years. I have gone from doctors to naturopaths and now integrative doctors to do whatever I can to manage my conditions. I have a handful of conditions one of which is PMDD which I know is hormonal and too much androgens. It sounds like this product blocks those receptors and may finally be the solution I have been looking for. I would truly love to try it.

    Best,
    Caroline

Good morning! I have struggled with hairloss most of my life, and I’am looking for more organic ways to help, as the chemical overload on my system is not helping my thyroid, MTHFR, and various other issues. My teenage daughter is now showing signs, and I hope by educating her on organic products may help her so she does not develop more severe symtoms as I have. We al must eliminate the toxic products we use, and I would love to try your product.

I am excited that I found your website. I am learning more about MTHFR having been tested and found to be compound hetero. I would love to try this product. I have used Argan oil as a leave in conditioner for about 1 1/2 years and love it.

The most frustrating part about having so many messed up SNP’s is, buying these expensive products that are beautifully chemical free only to find out your allergic to one of the ingredients. I’ve mixed up so many concoctions trying to keep my hair clean, it would be nice to find a ready made shampoo that works. The list of ingredients on this one is promising.

I would absolutely love love love to try this product. I have lost half of the hair on my head from what I used to have (yet unfortunately has no problem growing elsewhere!! Lol). I think a combo of thyroid, adrenal and compound heterozygous MTHFR 🙁 I have looked into another product that works with DHT, however to purchase the kit was over 200 dollars! Please share where to get this 🙂 Also many thanks for opening the giveaway up to Canadian residents!

Quite literally I’ve been losing hair and living with progressively thinner hair since going off the Pill at age 40. I’m now 54 and began wearing clip in hair 10 years ago to try to hide the damage. The Pill did a real number on my hormones and to which I am now terrifically ‘androgen sensitive’ and have developed low thyroid too. I’ve seen scores of doctors, some very famous, to no avail. My hair remains brittle, slow growing and breaks easily. So I’d enjoy trying a gently moisturizing shampoo to see if it will help, if even a little bit. At one time when I got my hair cut my hairdresser would take thinning scissors to make my hair manageable, but now that same hairdresser cuts only 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the ends twice a year and spends extra time to carefully manipulate as my hair comes out so easily. My testosterone (free & total), DHEAS, Androstenedione are all in normal range – testosterone in fact is low – but yet I have many symptoms of high androgens. I do use progesterone cream cyclically and Estrogel daily and these hormones test well. Also I take 1/2 grain (30 mg) of compounded thryroid hormone, eat gluten/grain/soy/corn free, avoid vegetable oils, have gone through both a candida and parasite cleanse (both tested positive via stool testing 5 years ago, now negative due to cleanses). Also alcohol/sugar/coffee/refined foods are avoided. I’ve had hair testing for heavy metals and dealt with those imbalances successfully via gently chelating vs. IV or heavy duty oral chelation type of treatments. Last I’ve tested for all food/environmental allergies or sensitivities, done CYREX testing for cross reactive foods and SPECTRACELL testing for nutrient insufficiencies. All of this very expensive and extensive testing over the years and yet no answer for my thinning hair. So yes, I’d enjoy the shampoo to try.
    Thank you – LIBBY

I would love to try this product because I am currently experiencing some stress-related hair loss, despite being in my mid-twenties. This would be a fantastic way for me to help make my hair healthy again & act on the suggestion of conditioning with argan oils from my friend/hairstylist!

Suffering from immune system disorders, I strive to pay close attention to not only what I put in my body, but on my body. This shampoo being organic and non-toxic, but also being CRUELTY-FREE! is a win in my book. I’ve struggled with hair loss off and on as my health struggles come and go. I’d love the opportunity to try this.

I would love to try Pura D’ or because I have recently been diagnosed with MTHFR after our struggle with multiple pregnancy losses. I have been in a process of changing out household products to live a more organic and toxin free lifestyle. Sometimes it can be overwhelming reading labels and knowing what is good for you and what is bad. It is nice when someone like you can help research and inform others. These products sound wonderful and I am looking forward to checking them out.

I would love to try the shampoo.mive just been diagnosed a month or so ago compound heterozygous MTHFR. I meediately purged my health and beauty products along with my kitchen, since then I have invested a tremendous amount of time researching healthy replace, nets for what I threw out. So far I haven’t replaced one single thing! So often we are misled by advertising. I would be grateful to try something endorsed by the MTHFR living community. Thank you.
